There are 2 sides of Coil to consider: The viewer (consumer) and the provider (content creator)
As a consumer: You visit a web site to view it’s content, this could be a Blog site such as Coils own Blog platform at coil.com/explore or News outlet, web based training, tutorial site amongst many others. You can do all this with a single pay monthly subscription, currently $5 per month. This avoids having to pay and track dozens of individual site memberships, avoids tracking logins, changing payment details etc and avoids paying a monthly subscription to content you may not even visit once a month!
As a Provider: Your focus is on providing content for the consumer, there is no distraction with user membership support, forgotten logins, failed payments etc. You create the content and enabled Coil Web Monetization usually with a simple Java script added to your site/page.
Coil pay monthly subscribers are expected to grow rapidly as more content providers move over to Coil Web Monetization, content providers will grow rapidly as Coil subscribers increase, and so the cycle continues!
Content providers should consider the following: For each consumer who subscribes a thousand will click on ‘close window’! Now consider if the thousand small payments (micro payments) add up to more than the single subscriber, you win!
Content consumers should also consider the following: You only pay for what you consume, maybe you read a page of an article and realise its not relevant to you, you close the window and payments stop.
Its a Win – Win!
Game creators have recognised the simplicity in adding Coil into their pay as you play games, see the new section for Summer.io Browser based Games Developers Hub at the bottom of this page, and play.
